Are you a chaat lover? Are you a potato lover? If yes, then you came to the correct place. Here is a recipe for you that originally is a south Korean dish, potato tornado chaat also known as twist potatoes or tornado fries is a spiral fried potato with delicious and different types of seasoning and today we are going to give it a twist and going to make it in the Indian style with the richness of chaat flavour in it. As for Indians, chaat is one of the favourites and most mouth-watering kind of flavour that we love !! Potato Tornado Chaat adds the extra spicy and sour-sweet flavour to the meal. And yes, today we are going to make the spirals without a spiral machine with the help of a wooden skewer and a knife only.

 

Preparation time: 15 minutes

INGREDIENTS

For Frying

2 medium potatoes

2 wooden skewers

Water

Salt to taste

Oil for frying

 

For dry green chutney

1 bundle of coriander leaves

3-4 fresh green chillies

Salt to taste

1/2 cup roasted chana dal

1 tsp dried mango powder

1/2 tsp cumin powder

 

For curd

1 cup fresh curd

Salt to taste

2 tsp powdered sugar

PROCESS

  1. Firstly cut the potatoes. Insert a wooden skewer into the bottom of each potato and gently push it all the way through the top. Working in a spiral motion from one side to the other, hold a sharp, thin knife at an angle and cut in the opposite direction you are turning the skewered potato, cutting all the way down to the skewer. Take your time and work to make thin, even spiral all the way down the potato.
  2. Gently fan out each potato down the length of the skewer, until you have even gaps between the slices. Then soak them in water containing salt for 5-10 minutes.
  3. Now fry them in medium hot oil until half has done.

4. Before serving fry it second time for more crispiness till it turns golden brown.

For dry green chutney

In a grinder jar, add coriander leaves, fresh green chillies, salt, roasted chana dal, dried mango powder, cumin powder and grind it to a fine powder.

 

For curd

In a bowl mix curd, salt and powdered sugar together.

For Assembling Chaat

Spread some curd, tamarind chutney and put the spiral onto it then spread some curd, sprinkle dry green chutney powder, red chilli powder and roasted cumin powder. Garnish it with coriander leaves, mint leaves, onion rings, pomegranate pearls and serve it immediately.
